SAP has signed a tripartite agreement with DESCON & DPSC to provide SAP solution for utility industry on 3rd December 2007 at Mumbai. SAP is the world's largest business software company having specialized solution for utility vertical. DPSC is one of the oldest power sector player in the country having vast pool of resources on power sector expertise. DESCON is a reputed IT solution provider for its indian and overseas clients.

Through this MOU all the constituents will work together to meet the explosive demand of software solutions for power sector / utilities. This MOU has come in wake of huge generation & transmission capacity addition currently going on the country and unique requirements of Power utilities that are migrating from deregulated to regulated environment and have considerable pressure of reducing the operating costs by tightening leakages in their value chain.

The MOU constituents are committed to provide high value propositions to power utility customers such as complex utility billing and meter data management, decision support infrastructure for trading of power in commodity market, value chain linkage with AMI (Automatic metering Infrastructure), knowledge management during planning to O&M phase etc.
